Tension brews at Bomso Sasa near Kumasi over a long standing land dispute

There is mounting tension at Bomso Sasa near Kumasi as factional tradition traditional leaders knock heads over a long standing dispute over land ownership.

The deployment of land guards by opposing forces is said to be heightening fears of a possible clash in the area.

Residents in the community say the situation is worsening by the day.
Chief of Buoho Sasa, Nana Akoto Osei has accused the Community head (or Odikro) of flouted directives by the District Security Council compelling both parties to stay off the land.

The chief also alleged a private developer known in the area as “Off Twum” has been engage in acts of terrorism and disturbing the peace of the area.
He wants the Odikro, Kofi Krah to be called to order to avert any possible reprisal attacks.

The Odikro, Kofi Krah has described the chief’s allegations as unwarranted. According to him, the Asantehene has setup a committee to look into the matter and will therefore not counter the chief.

Effigya-Kwabre District Chief Executive, Mr. Oppong-KyekyeKu says the DISEC have been meeting the two factions to finding lasting solution to what he describes as a “generational unresolved dispute”.

He hinted the Council will issue an official statement on the issue but assured residents of maximum security.
