Update: Abuga Pale convicted for causing financial loss to the state


*Accra High court convicts Former GYEEDA  boss Abuga of causing financial loss to the state*

An Accra High Court has convicted former GYEEDA boss Abuga Pele of causing wilfully causing financial loss to the state.

Phillip Assibit, a businessman has also been convicted of defrauding by false pretence. The two have since 2014 been before the court. Mr Assibit is accused of putting in a false claim for payments to the tune of 3.3million cedis as services provided the then NYEP. This included developing an exit program, and securing a grant of 65million cedis from the World Bank.

Mr Pele is alleged to have entered into the agreement with Mr Assibit and prevailed upon the state to make payments when no work has been done.


The Court presided over by Justice Afia Serwaah  Asare Botwe delivering her Judgement  found the  Former GYEEDA coordinator Abuga Pele guilty  of 13 counts ranging from abetting to commit crime to wilfully causing financial loss to the state

Court also found businessman Phillip Assibit guilty of 6 counts of defrauding by false pretence.
