Tony Aidoo slams DCEs for failing to submit performance data.

Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Presidency has chastised Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives for doing little to support President Mills’ Better Ghana agenda.

Dr. Tony Aidoo says the Kumasi Metropolitan and other assemblies have for the past three years failed to submit performance data to his outfit for evaluation.
The Director of Policy Monitoring was speaking at a one-day data validation conference in Kumasi.

Regional Ministers, DCE’s, and co-ordinating directors in the Northern Sector were in attendance.

Dr. Aidoo says his outfit has been working only at 25 per cent capacity due to the attitude of the assemblies, and wants them to sit up.

“We have had a long period of poor record keeping and therefore when the system came on stream some people are finding difficult in retracing their steps to capture the data. Don’t forget that information has a life and that life is affected by a time lack. The government agencies should backup because at the moment l will say that the system is about 75 per cent underutilized……” he noted.

Some participants described the meeting as a wake-up call on them.
