A Kumasi court has subpoenaed two witnesses to appear before it in a case in which four teenagers gang-raped a minor, captured on video and circulated on social media late last year.

The two, the Unit Committee Chairman for Bantama Kwabena Boateng, and Yaw Amankwaa, the tenant in whose house the dastardly act was committed had all declined to willingly appear to testify.

Even the victim, according to Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor has also refused to cooperate with the prosecutors.

She spent three hours at the State Attorney’s office but will not tell the lawyers anything about how it happened or what they actually did to her, Donkor reported.

These the prosecutors find unnerving and could hamper efforts to punish the suspects.
Despite the obvious challenge, the prosecutors are willing to go ahead with the case and have the suspects prosecuted.

One of the two witnesses, the unit committee member was arrested and hauled before the court,
Wednesday to give an account of what happened.

Sitting was in camera, Donkor reported. The witness was cross-examined by lawyers for the defence.

The hearing continues tomorrow.
