News Around: Traffic-blocking alligator gets a police escort back to lake

A Florida sheriff's office shared photos of an alligator receiving a police escort after blocking traffic in an intersection.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office said Cpl. Diaz responded about 3:30 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of Pine Ridge and Goodlette-Frank roads, where a 4-5 foot alligator was reported blocking traffic in the road.

The sheriff's office posted photos to Facebook showing Diaz escorting the alligator back to a nearby lake.

The sheriff's office said the gator had reportedly been hit by a vehicle, but appeared to be uninjured.
